Lucy’s Loves
For Lucy, the Manger, the Cross and the Tabernacle meant the presence of the One: the only One who gives meaning and value to life.
Filled with love for the Baby Jesus, she imbued such sentiments in the children, preparing them for the solemn feast of Christmas with virtuous acts and prayers arising from her creative spirit.
“Oh, most divine Infant, you came to earth for our salvation, sprinkled with tears because of our sins, the hardness of our hearts broken by a ray of your loving glance. Yes, most loving Babe, give us reluctance so as not to offend you any more, a heart to always love you now and for all ages. Amen” (Lucy Filippini)
The Paschal Mystery was the center of her life and the Cross the sign of hope and of victory.
The Crucifix was her only book. She meditated on it continually and spoke of it in a passionate manner.
In continuous sufferings, she exclaimed with the Apostle Paul:
“With Christ I am placed on the Cross… Who will separate me from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? But in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us”. (Rom 8:35-37)
She was joyous in suffering because she felt near the Mystery of the Cross, the sign of hope and victory.
The Tabernacle
Lucy remained before the Most Blessed Sacrament for long periods of time; she only left in order to complete her duties, leaving God for God. While she occupied herself with the Exercises of the school and of other matters, she remained in spirit at the feet of her Lord.
“I strongly believe, my Lord Jesus Christ, that You are contained within the Sacramental Species. I renew and offer You all my affection and acts of adoration already given and to be given in all the churches of the world!”
La Vergine Maria
Her ardent love for Christ is strongly connected to her devotion to the Madonna. The Virgin Mary becomes a model for her life. With loving passion, she spreads the devotion.
She is moved in particular to adore the Mystery of the Incarnation of the Word of God.
